About Jungwon Choi
Soprano Jungwon Choi earned her vocal arts program from the University of Southern California and her master's and bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance from Kyunghee University, where she graduated first in her class. Her operatic debut was an Azema in a production of Semiramide, directed by Pier Luigi Pizzi at Seoul Art Center Opera House. Jungwon Choi's other appearances include Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro, Blanche in Dialogue of the Carmelites, Corinna in the Il viaggio a reims, Micaela in the Carmen, among others. She won first place at the Joong-Ang competition and the KBS Competition in South Korea, which are two of the most respected and honored competitions that best represent Korea's artistic level and manner as a vocalist. Additionally, Choi has received awards from the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition, Loren L. Zachary National Vocal Competition, Metropolitan National Council Auditions and Placido Domingo's International Operalia Competition, among others.
