The Chancellor's Office recently announced the three finalists for the position of President of Santiago Canyon College. Gold-Plated Service to Our Veteran Students

Santiago Canyon College has earned the distinction of a Gold-Tier Level Military Friendly® School for 2021-2022. The Gold-Tier status was achieved after just the second consecutive year of being recognized as a Military Friendly School, moving up from last year's Bronze-Tier Level. Click HERE to learn more.

Hawk Athletes Return to In-Person Competition

Students and coaches alike are elated to be back on the court or out on the field competing. After pandemic-related delays in fall and winter, eight sports are back, including Men's and Women’s Cross Country, Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Volleyball, Men’s Basketball, and Softball.  Find out more HERE.

New Foundation Board Member Named

The Santiago Canyon College Foundation recently appointed former City of Orange mayor, Teresa “Tita” Smith, to its Board of Directors. The Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is managed by a 10-member board that helps raise funds to support students at Santiago Canyon College. Read the full press release HERE.

 

Hawk's Nest Food Pantry Update

The Hawk's Nest Food Pantry continues to host drive-thru distributions of groceries for students. Since the start of the semester, the pantry has served over 400 unique students and distributed over 50,000 pounds of food. Diapers and baby wipes have also been made available. Thanks to partners Second Harvest and the OC Food Bank for their support. SCC Receives $2.6 Million in Grants

Santiago Canyon College (SCC) recently received a new $1.3 million Student Success Services (SSS) congressional award for the Veterans Resource Center (VRC). The SSS-Veterans grant, payable in $260,000 increments over five years, will support the expansion of counseling, mentoring and tutoring services for veteran students. In addition to this grant, SCC was able to renew another $1.3 million five-year award to fund SSS-TRiO, a program that supports low-income, first generation students. The SSS-TRiO grant will focus on providing flexible and affordable in-demand career pathways for students, as well as financial literacy training. For more information, click HERE.

 

Upcoming Events

Join us on Friday, October 15, 2021, for the 21st Annual "Changing Students' Lives" Golf Tournament at Strawberry Farms Golf Club in Irvine. This year's event benefits Project RISE at Santiago Canyon College (SCC), a program that supports justice-impacted students at SCC as they pursue the goal of obtaining a high school diploma, college degree or employment certification.
